I don't get much sleep here. On the first night I had a talk with Connect friend Gabi about our infamous DAWN meeting in Budapest. On the second night a long conversation with George Otis jr. about podcasting, new documentaries, and the love-hate relationship between transformation and saturation church planting. That was after I burned my mouth on the spicy 'chicken Thailand' that I ordered when I hang out at a local restaurant with the youth guys. Yesterday night a few of us went for a late prayer meeting in which God spoke from Hebrews 11 and 12 about faith.
First there were two prophetic pictures:
- A set of mirrors, reflecting a city landscape with all kinds of buildings. Suddenly the mirrors broke in pieces, falling to the ground. The interpretation the Lord gave is this: "The time to build according to your own image or reality is over." Often we build church/ministry on our own understanding, based on our experiences so-far. But Jesus wants our building to mirror Him and his reality. It links in to Is. 55: his ways are higher than ours, his thoughts higher than ours.
- A island with bridges to the mainland. Suddenly the bridges broke and fell apart. I asked the Lord what sense this made, as the bridges allowed goods and food to be brought to the island. The Lord said: "Connections will be broken, because it's time to experience the heavenly reality of provision." After that I saw the presence of God descend on that island.
Then I read out loud Hebrews 11 and 12, as a prayer of impartation, speaking faith into our hearts. Every person mentioned here put their faith in God. Not their lifestyle made them into 'heroes of the faith' (think of Rahab, David, etc. who were not that holy), but the simple fact that they understood that without faith you cannot please God. Noah built an ark based on a heavenly blueprint. No-one had ever built something like that before, there was no human experience to use as a basis for this strange salvation plan. When Joshua walked around Jericho, and saw the walls come down, this was never done before. It was a completely new thing, based on specific godly instruction. God is entering us in a new season in which we cannot trust on our past experience, but have to trust Him for divine ways to bring the Kingdom.

Marc,
Thanks for the encouragement! You are right, "without faith it is impossible to please God." We talk about this and confess this to one another, but there has to be a corresponding reality to this statement. Today the opportunity (to "jump off the cliff and fly" and at the same time risk the fall) was placed before us. I went ahead and made a commitment to purchase the place I spoke to you about. I have no idea how to fulfill this commitment without God's intervention. But enough words have been spoken. It's time to act...come what may.
