Had a cappucino with the two Maartens. Maarten no 1 coordinates the company prayer network in the Netherlands, comprising around 90 prayer groups in companies and government institutions. Maarten no 2 coordinates a new, still embryonic prayer network that links the national government institutions in The Hague. We talked about several issues relating to these networks.
Halfway our talk Maarten no 2 shared something interesting. In order to gain more interest in the prayer groups on the different ministry departments, he wrote a letter to both the Christians who worked there and the different ministers who were responsible for these departments. Most of the Christian civil workers didn't show any interest to respond, but four ministers (including the PM) responded saying they were happy to know that there were prayer groups in their departments praying for them. So the government wants prayer support, but the Christians are not (yet) too eager to respond...
